The “Pro-Life” Murder of Dr. George Tiller
I’ve recently written about the radical right wing being encouraged by political & thought leaders to resort to violence in order to express its political interests. For elected officials it’s also pandering of the worst sort, ever-increasing the rhetoric and dangerousness. I’ve also expressed increasing concern that these same “leaders” have abdicated their moral responsibility in calling for such a radicalized agenda (such as torture and others) subverting the rule of law.
Today we have such a despicable example of that radicalized agenda being carried out by violent pro-lifers against abortion clinic doctors with the murder of Dr. George Tiller in Kansas.
Abortion is a thorny issue. There is no doubt about it. It is not my intention to tackle the subject here. However, the inherent hypocrisy involved with radical religious zealots claiming to be Christians who murder another human being, in direct conflagration of their supposed ideals not to mention in violation of the Ten Commandments itself, is astounding.
WorldNetDaily.com conducted an unscientific poll regarding the “reaction to the murder of abortionist George Tiller” and the results are shocking. You have to log in to vote and see the results, but as of 7:30 AM this morning, Media Matters published the results:

14% of 732 votes said “I cheer the fact this serial baby killer has been brought to justice”.
The elected and thought leaders of the radical right wing are therefore complicit in this murder. Additionally, it could be argued the media has some responsibility as well, given the radical ideological agenda flows in media circles unabated and unchecked by people representing themselves as journalists. Such radicalization is given credibility by members of the media, and therefore the media has as much culpability in fomenting radical right wing hatred as the radical right wing elected officials and thought leaders do.
Yesterday the radical right wing perpetrated murder of an unarmed civilian physician in the foyer of his church and now some claim he was “brought to justice”, subverting the rule of law and the moral standard of human rights by perpetrating homicide. This is settled law and has been since 1973 in Roe v. Wade. If the law is the problem the law should be changed. Additionally, it’s not for lack of effort in the last 30 years to try to get the law changed, packing the Supreme Court with conservatives like Thomas, Alito, Scalia, and Chief Justice Roberts expressly for that reason.
Will these “leaders” back away from murdering abortion doctors or will they continue to placate the small fanatical fringe of their radicalized base? Operation Rescue, the most notorious of the radical anti-abortion groups, led the protests against Dr. Tiller and have culpability in this murder and past violent actions against Dr. Tiller (he was shot in both arms once before).
