6 Must Have Twitter Tools

I hunted around the web for good stories on applications and some reviews of those apps, but they were old and outdated. I had to do a lot of research on my own to find out what the best tools were and how to use them. That is the purpose of this article. These tools are multi-platform with the exception of those which are specifically Windows-based. I intend to write a separate article for Mac users as a follow-up to this one.

What’s Twitter?

This article already assumes you know what Twitter is and how to use it. If you do not have a basic understanding in how to use Twitter you will not get anything out of this article.

How do I get Twitter?

Here is the Twitter website, or click the Twitter logo and it will take you there.

I get it, what’s next?

Maybe you’re new to Twitter and you “get it” and now you want to get a massive following, need marketing power beyond what you can achieve by yourself manually, or have a large group/audience to keep up with. Here are 6 Must Have Twitter tools to keep you going strong, and help build your network of followers to its maximum potential.

Warning: Number of API calls

Twitter only allows a maximum of 100 API calls per hour maximum using what’s called an Application Programming Interface, or the means of communication between the application or website you use to interface with Twitter outside of twitter.com itself. The maximum number of 100 simply means the number of times the site will allow transmission and reception of data between the website and your application. When you go over the 100 limit the API exceeds the rate, or what’s called Rate Limit Exceeded. So be careful using applications and map a cohesive strategy that doesn’t tax Twitter’s resources or exceeds the capabilities of the client. Use only one at a time and you will save yourself a lot of frustration.
